Tubbies are the equalizer and give you a handling improvement that reduces the stock SXR's handling advantage to almost nothing. This is no exaggeration.

To clarify the difference between the two Tubbie 1 and Tubbie 2 models available here, we have recessed a concave shape into the lower leading edge of the Tubbie II sponson to create a harder/sharper edge for turning and tracking.

The Race Tubbie II model (PN# 02-01-003) grips better in turns and is more stable in a straight line at high speeds.

The Rec/Freeride model (PN# 02-01-002) is very stable, but has a bit of mid-range nose drift due to the mouth curvature going back and forth on the wave.

This is very beneficial in freeriding as the ski is able to be more forgiving and respond better to a variety of water flow directions and angles. The Race Tubbie II models are more aggressive, but less forgiving on diagonal wave crests.

If you are a rider/customer with the Rec/Freeride model (PN# 02-01-002) and want to try racing, the Freeride model can be mounted 4-5 millimeters from the bottom of the hull.

This will create the same effect as the Race Tubbie Two model.
