After several years of development, TBM has finally found the perfect balance between maneuverability and speed. Most aftermarket sliders offer a compromise between maneuverability and speed, especially with a Stand Up.

Generally, to gain speed, you need a plate with a raised or reduced planing angle, which allows the nose of the ski to fly higher out of the water and thus increase top speed. The problem is that on a Stand Up, raising the nose makes it lazy in turns and porpoising in chop (rough water), a ubiquitous phenomenon in closed racing.

Conversely, for better handling in rough racing conditions, the planing angle is generally lowered for a more stable ride under acceleration. This allows the jet ski to turn more aggressively and reduces porpoising in rough water.

Extending the glide plate doesn't contribute much to handling if the planing angle isn't adjusted. The added length has a similar effect to extending the wheelbase of a hand-held jet, but there's always a point of diminishing returns when you go too far and hamper handling by overcompensating.

Each skid plate is made from cast aluminum from an aircraft-grade alloy, ground, and heat-treated. The mounting holes are CNC machined for a perfect fit without any modifications. They feature a satin black powder coat finish and new stainless steel hardware.
