The R&D "Big Cam" engine idle timing kit is a simple screw-in parts kit that allows you to remove the OEM AIC (Air Idle Control) stepper motor from the throttle body and replace it with a fully adjustable needle valve assembly.
The R&D kit allows for precise adjustment and locking of idle air volume when using/installing "High Lift", "Longer Duration" camshaft kits, as well as narrower LSA (Lobe Separation Angle) packages.
When aggressive camshaft lift times and LSA settings are used, engine vacuum drops or decreases, and idle becomes more difficult, or even nearly impossible, to stabilize or control, especially with the OEM "vacuum-referenced" AIC engine. The OEM AIC is calibrated to focus at a much higher vacuum; therefore, engine revving and stalling are aggressive when installing larger cams.
The Big Cam R&D idle tuner will work to achieve the perfect idle speed (RPM) with any camshaft kit and with virtually any LSA setup, right up to extremely aggressive RC4 R&D kits! Super easy to install in 5 minutes and very easy to tune!
The R&D idle tuner kit is suitable for all Kawasaki STX-12F / STX-15F / Ultra LX / Ultra 250X / SXR models, all years.
Please note that following the closure of the R&D department, we have taken over the production and development of this product. Consequently, it now bears our RIVOT RACING brand, and the materials used are stainless steel for the screws and nuts, and 5083 aluminum for the mounting plate and cone, allowing us to offer a 10-year warranty on this product.
Don't forget to take the O-ring off the mechanical stepper and put it back on the manual stepper.
